Not Buying New & Slow Fashion
23rd May 2022
I never set out to not to buy new items anymore, but it has sort of happened! It’s very rare that I go shopping anywhere further than my shop. I don’t need to, there’s such a great range of items in our shop! And I have got used to the affordable prices in our shop too! Running the shop hasn’t turned me into a shopaholic but I’m yet to do day’s work without buying something… All useful items, mugs, glasses, plates, clothes, shoes etc. I was brough up with hand-me-downs, second hand and handmade items. And I feel pre-loved and handmade go together so well
. I’ve just counted the jumpers in my wardrobe, and there’s a whopping 11 jumpers I’ve knitted, as well as handknitted cardigan and and pre-loved cardigan that I regularly wear with my pre-loved skirts, dresses and jeans. My clothes range isn’t completely pre-loved and handmade, I have few new pieces from local independent shops too as well as underwear and vests from high street shops, but I everything in moderation works for me.
My wardrobe isn’t the biggest and I like to put my summer clothes in the loft in the winter and vice versa. When seasons change, it’s lovely to see all favourites coming out again and to have a change. But my handknits now stay in my wardrobe all year round. You can’t beat throwing a cosy jumper on at summer evenings!
